Laundry Soap
Nowadays, you can make a soap powder for your own laundry that is as effective as anything you can purchase and is not harmful for clothes, septic systems or pipes. All the ingredients except the essential oils are available at your local grocery.

4 cups grated Castile or glycerin soap, 6 cups borax, 8 cups baking soda. Mix together well and stir in 1 ½ TBSP essential oil of lavender or lemon. Or divide it in half and use both. Keep in a sealed container. Use about 1 good cup per load of wash. Unless you have babies and do lots of laundry, this should last about 6 months in the
average household.

Lavender is a very useful herb and you would be wise to tuck plants here and there in every corner of your yard. Too many is not enough. It is soothing as an aromatic; flavorful for cooking; its antibacterial and antiseptic qualities make it a natural germ fighter.
Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.
