The holidays are around us
It's that turkey night again
We all gather around the table
The bird makes his entrance.
The plates are piled high
Turkey, potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce,
sweet potatoes, bisquits, and green beans
The human body about to be stuffed to the gills.
I took my fork and knife in hand
The fork goes for the potatoes drenched in gravy
That first bite soooooo good!
Something whispered in my ear
"Gobble! Gobble!"
My fork and knife were in a race
Cut ~ shovel in ~ cut ~ shovel in
I could not stop
My stomach swelling like a balloon
"Oh, I can't"
That last bite
Too much! Too much!
Ahh, the pies
Pumpkin, Apple, Cherry
They smell heavenly
I just know I have one big toe left.
Again something whispered in my ear
"Gobble! Gobble!"
My fork flew to my mouth faster than a Boeing 747
That big toe damn near burst.
Again a whisper in my ear
"Gobble! Gobble!"
Hard as it was to even move I turned around.
It was the devil in me screaming
"Gobble! Gobble!"
I took my fork and flicked him into the calendar
Until next year, you little devil.
