Past Due
I feel like a pregnant woman
Who's well past her due date.
The response to my submission
Is running rather late.
I thought two months was long enough,
But that was weeks ago.
Quite frankly, I just want an answer
Either " yes " or " no. "
I don't know whether to write or call,
Or buy champagne or sit and bawl,
Or if anything I do matters at all,
But one thing is certain, I'm climbing the wall!
But wait,
I need to get a grip
And keep my fingers crossed.
Ah, hell, a thought occurs to me
What if the darn thing's lost!
