Sachets are dry potpourri blends that have been finely chopped and mixed
with a filler to go into bags and pillows. The color of a sachet is not as important (unless you are using a sheet fabric) as the fragrance and the
properties of the botanicals. These recipes include blends to help you sleep, discourage bugs, freshen linens, and keep you alerts at the computer.
Sachet fillers can be any unscented material that helps to fill out the sachet. I prefer buckwheat hulls, but cornstarch also works well. All the botanicals are coarsely crushed or processed in a blender until finely chopped. Use a mortar and pestle or spice grinder for the hard spices and an old blender
for the leaves and petals To make paper sachets, simply decorate an envelope with rubber stamps or stencils, fill with your sachet blend and seal.
You can also create beautiful envelope sachets from decorative papers by taking an envelope apart carefully and using it as a template.
